Vishwa Vigyan is a small group of researchers and builders, started by physicist Souvik Ghosh as an initiative of Master Within. We take up the name of a laboratory first built in 1920s Bengal.

A laboratory, 1920s

Himaitpur, Pabna, East Bengal.

A village surrounded by jungle, malaria and cholera. The ashram’s workers often ate once a day. Sree Sree Thakur Anukulchandra asked for money to build a science laboratory. People thought he was joking. He built it and named it the Satsang Vishwa Vigyan Kendra.

Around it grew a mechanical and electrical workshop, a power house, a chemical works, a press, a bank and a school. In 1946 Thakur left Himaitpur; after Partition the ashram and the laboratory were lost to those who had built them. The intention behind it remained.
